Bayou Root House was born from a deep love for old Southern magical traditions; the power found waiting in roots and bones, the fervent prayers spoken at the edge of the woods and all the mystery that is woven into Southern life. After 26 years of practicing Southern folk magic traditions from the bayous along the Gulf Coast right on through to the swamps of Louisiana, we felt called to open a space where those spiritual traditions could live, breathe, and be shared with other practitioners and the curious alike. As we grow, Bayou Root House will become more than just another conjure shop or botanica. We envision a sacred space where people can gather, learn, and spread the folk traditions that have been kept alive in whispers and in worn hands. Magic workshops, spiritual readings, handmade magickal goods, and community rituals are only the beginning. If you practice hoodoo, conjure, rootwork, espiritismo, an ATR or just good old traditional witchcraft, this just might be the place for you!

More than a folk magic shop

We aren't just a shop, we are a spiritual education center. Our passion is for all things spiritual and magickal; this includes performing work for others right here on our altars, as well as teaching folks how they can performs this work for themselves. If you come to us for spellwork or a spiritual reading, I can almost promise you that you will have learned something before you leave. We have 26 years of experience that we rely on to inform all of our processes. We don't cut any corners with the materials or the processes involved in making any of our products and we are very proud of this fact. Our range of magickal tools and products are focused on Southern folk magic, but can be used for traditional witchcraft, ceremonial magick, espiritismo and several other spiritual practices and religious traditions.
